Watch: Why Volvo’s Martin Corner thinks there has never been a more exciting time for automotive logistics

Volvo Cars is in the midst of significant change across its global supply chain, including the launch of its first fully electric vehicle this autumn from its plant in Ghent, Belgium, an expanding global production network in China and the US, and big plans for new digital sales and vehicle subscription models. Martin Corner, who has led the carmaker’s new global supply chain logistics organisation for a year, sees these developments as the opportunity for real transformation in many areas of the supply chain. In particular, he calls for finished vehicle logistics to ”get out of the stone age”.

In the opening session to the Automotive Logistics and Supply Chain Live virtual conference, Corner spoke in an extensive fireside with editor-in-chief Christopher Ludwig outlining what Volvo Cars has learned from the coronavirus crisis, and sharing his vision for electrifying the supply chain, digital distribution models and sustainability, among much else.
