Watch FVL highlights: ETA, capacity, driver shortages and collaboration

Christopher Ludwig - web

Christopher Ludwig summarises key takeaways from FVL North America, where vehicle ETA, capacity and costs were major concerns, but so were finding practical ways to work together.

At this year’s Finished Vehicle Logistics North America 2022, improving ETA accuracy and predictability was the top concern for many across the outbound supply chain, including for those leading OEM sales organisations, such as Steve Center from Kia America and Ray Mikiciuk at Volkswagen Group of America. Dealers and end customers want to know where their vehicles are and OEMs are having to offer more transparency than ever. Meanwhile, both manufacturers and logistics providers are worried about vehicle logistics capacity. Mark Anderson at United Road Services said that the vehicle carrier industry had lost 30% of drivers and capacity, and it would struggle to bring many back without a big focus on not only improving wages, but of eliminating inefficiencies that cost drivers time and money.

Christopher Ludwig points to the positives across the industry, including opportunity to collaborate and invest in solutions together.
